Who am I? I am first of all, a sinner saved by the divine election of Almighty God who in his providence chose to condescend to love a vile wretch such as I.  I am also the husband to the most beautiful, godly woman in the world (not a biased bone in my body. Nope, nothing but impartiality around here) known to you as Mrs. Pauper. I am the father of two girls. I am an ordained pastor.

The reason I write is first of all for my family. I see this blog as an extension of my discipleship responsibility to them. My first and primary responsibility is to shepherd the flock God has given me in my own home. This makes family life a primary lens with which my writing here is focused. I want to focus on how the Word of God found in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments in the Bible impacts, directs, instructs and empowers our daily life together here in the Pauper’s Hovel. In this endeavor as in all of life, The Bible IS the one and only final authority to which we are obligated to submit as those who claim Jesus the Christ as our Lord and as that final authority is the measure by which all of this ranting of mine should be measured.

Other reasons I write:

  • To encourage families and father’s specifically to take seriously their calling before God to leave a multi-generational legacy of loving God with everything we have by thinking deeply above the real life implications of that responsibility. (Deut 6:4-9; Ps 78; Matt 22:37)
  • To take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus and destroying every lofty thing that sets itself up against God by exposing the fallacies which parade themselves as truth.
  • To rally and encourage other homeschool fathers that they are not alone and that the battle is worth it by reminding us what is at stake.

I am not sure any of that covers it or helps much but I wanted to try to explain a little of the madness around here. I guess in a nutshell what you should expect to see around here is much about family, parental responsibility for ALL of the education of their children, Homeschooling, Fatherhood, Manhood, Theology (God talk), Orthopraxis (right actions/living), and the general Cacophony of Life.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you are encouraged and deeply challenged.
